And then three low two-engine planes flying singly. They were fired at by the Lewis guns and were believed to be Dornier bombers or Messerschmitt 2 engine fighters. Fighters were seen in pursuit. The raid ended at 5.

Of these, 2 aircraft were destroyed and one pilot killed by bombs when taking off from North Weald aerodrome. There were a number of incursions by groups of enemy aircraft with between 50 and aircraft in each group.

Their targets were the same as before. The main object being attacks on London and the South East. The RAF were up in strength this day intercepting these attacks. They flew sorties, losing 2 aircraft in the process but destroying 11 German aircraft. At night, Birmingham was once again attacked and the cathedral was hit. Incendiary bombs were showered on Biggin Hill without much damage being done while in London a public shelter in Southwark was hit causing many casualties.

Operational patrols carried out over London. In the morning formations of up to 50 aircraft attacked targets in Kent and in London itself. In the afternoon, an attack was launched by Luftflotte 3 on Southampton. Martlesham Heath was also hit. At night, Coventry was hit heavily. London, Liverpool and Bristol were also bombed.

At La Bouchere and Flt Lt Marshall rushed to their machines and took off. He climbed to attack and fired 2 one second bursts at yds from slightly below and to the starboard quarter. MG fire was opened at him from the Dorsal turret at yds but it was low and to the right.

Flt Lt Marshall put in a 3 second burst as he entered cloud and another of 3 seconds from slightly above and astern at yds as he emerged. Fg Off Molony and the orderly room clerks were not in the office at the time. While the daylight fighter bomber attacks on London were maintained it was evident that the main effort of the Luftwaffe was taking the form of night bomber attacks on London and countrywide cities.

Throughout the day, a number of intruder groups flew over Kent with some penetrating to London where the Royal Chelsea Hospital was hit. The RAF flew sorties, 10 German aircraft being destroyed while 2 British fighters were shot down. Certain aircraft were nominated to act as the line of communications between the 2 groups, meaning that they were furnished with the correct crystals for the task.

Once more the night time raids hit London and Birmingham heavily. In real live it was lost also, so I suspect he made the scenario really hard to pretty much avoid breaking the time line. My advise, only concentrate on the convoys, only risk your non core units to make sure you have a full strong army for greece. Oh, the cruiser just south of England is priority, he will go around killing your units if you dont take care of him. Fireball View Profile View Posts.

Think that it is impossible to win this mission, already tried about 12 times and did not have any chance, even when I disbanded all ground troops and bought aircraft for them. I succeded in taking down all convoys and took down most enemy fighters, but with my rest of aircraft I nearly have no further options to get those aa guns down that guard every factory.

I would realy be interested in knowing if anyone can be successful in this mission, and if that means a crash of the game ;-. Kamikadze View Profile View Posts. How to destroy the radar and replenish the torpedoes of the submarines? Using your HQ command skills with recon flights and then bombarding is the only way to take down the AA without affecting you.

First send in a Scout to triger the suprise fire. Then send in HQ strategic bomber to make the aa use up the ammo and weaken it. Then finish with direct bombing runs with your bombers. This works well, i took out 6 factories this way. But by that time England had to many fighters to keep doing it and I just ran out of time. I also took down th 4 convoys. But yep, I think its almost unbeatable, unless you save save save and reload all the time.

Materials are dated , with the bulk of the materials being The collection contains two pilot's log books used by Welford, Entries typically include information such as date, type of aircraft flown, and note, such as "night flying" or "weather test. There is also a single modern reprint of a black-and-white group portrait of RAF military personnel.

The photograph is 3x5" and has several names on the front, which are difficult to read. On the reverse is a handwritten inscription, "[T. One of the two scrapbooks also includes additional photographs, primarily in the form of squadron group portraits. There are also casual and posed shots of Welford.

Additional materials in this scrapbook include photocopies of pages from an Operations Record book, which details military activity for the Squadron; original and photocopies of art created by Welford; typed summaries of Welford and his squadron; and a printed announcement regarding Welford's death in Within one of the plastic sleeves were also several letters, , which were removed and placed into their own folder for preservation and access.

Original order has been maintained. At the end of the collection is a packet of several photocopied documents, which appears to be a mix of a biography of Welford's service, service log, and pages from one of the photograph albums.
